Sugababes with their own DEICHMANN collection
At the moment, the Sugababes (GB) are especially creative. Not only have Keisha Buchanan, Heidi Range and Amelle Berrabah released their fifth album, "Change", in autumn 2007. In the middle of February they also launch their own shoe collection with Europe's largest shoe retailer, DEICHMANN. Their own star collection will be available in more than 1,000 stores in Germany and other European countries like Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Poland and UK.
In 2007, DEICHMANN cooperated with the Pussy Cat Dolls, developed their own collection with them and advertised it in TV commercials. "We both knew that this cooperation would be limited to one year therefore would need new testimonials this year," CEO Heinrich Deichmann said. "The Pussy Cat Dolls experience was very positive indeed. So, why not stay on this track?!" he continued.
So, now it's all about the "Graceland Star Collection by Sugababes". "We found it important that the band is globally known and has a positive image", Heinrich Deichmann gave his reasons for the new cooperation. DEICHMANN operates in 16 countries and has gained a very good reputation among younger people with its brand 'Graceland' in particular. A TV commercial will be produced in London at the end of January, to be seen in the UK from the beginning of April. The first part of the range within this collection will be available in DEICHMANN stores in Germany and 14 other European countries from mid-February. The three singers have selected the range of their Star Collection themselves. After all, they want to be self-reliant in both music and fashion.
All the glamour notwithstanding, the prices of the Star Collection will be kept at the wellknown inexpensive DEICHMANN level.
"We are proud of having developed a collection with the Sugababes that is chic and trendy but also affordable. We won't charge a premium price", Heinrich Deichmann announced at the collection presentation in Essen. The prices will range from £9.99 to £19.99.
Successful from the start
In 1997, the three friends Keisha Buchanan, Mutya Buena and Siobhán Donaghy decided to form a girl group. Soon the trio produced its debut album. In 2000, the first single, "Overload", of the album "One Touch" was released and became a Europe-wide top ten hit. At the beginning of 2002, Heidi Range replaced Donaghy, and in the same year the single "Freak Like Me" topped the UK single charts. A number of hits like
"Push the Button" and "Walk this Way" followed. In 2005, Amelle Berrabah replaced founding member Buena. She can be heard on all songs of the album "Change", released in October 2007, which has already topped the UK charts, as did the single "About you Now".
